Friendly Vs Langford GU13 KO 18.30

Amber Lee, Lili, Beth, Annie, Michaela, Lorren, Lara, Amber P, Holly, Grace,

A pre season re-arranged friendly was played at Redborne on a warm(ish) Thursday evening,Flitwick started slowly and were nervous of the off side rules which seemed to hold them back, however once they found their stride the passing was brilliant and the through balls to Lara and Holly were right on target, some brilliant turns and passes gave Eagles midfiled a chance to shoot at the Langford goal, whcih they did on several occasions finding the side netting and over the cross bar each time! Flitwick fought well and were wanting to take the ball to the Langford defence at every opportunity Michaela and Lili passing the ball to Amber then through to Holly gave Holly a shooting opportunity and the ball went into the net, Flitwick played well through the 1st half with a two more goals from Lara, and a save from Amber lee.

2nd half

After making several substitutes through the game we gave our midfield the chance to swap around which gave Amber the chance to get the ball down the wing and pass to Lara and Holly, our defence pushed up at every opportunity and defended well throughout the second half which saw Langford have a few shots at goal which went wide most times, Michaela shot at goal hit the post rebound hit the cross bar, then the keeper pushed the next shot away, Lara the scored giving her a hat trick ! A great pre season game by Flitwick Eagles with the whole team making every effort to enjoy the football they played. Well done Girls!

Flitwick Eagles GU13 vs Kempston Colts GU13 KO 10.30

Amber Lee (G) Annie, Michaela, Lucy B, Lorren, Grace, Lili, Holly, Amber P, Lara, Freya,

First Game of the season took Flitwick Eagles to Kempston Colts for a 10.30 Kick off, Kempston were on the attack from the first whistle, with strong forwards and great passing through Flitwick we were on the defence and defended for the first 5 minutes, until a goal finally slipped past the line while we watched it roll past, within minutes again Kempston attacked the Flitwick Goal, and a long strike shot into the net, 0-2, Flitwick tried to get back into the game, with some passing and determination in short bursts which led to a shot from Lara hitting the cross bar, then again Flitwick had to defend and a from a corner the ball went into the back of the Flitwick Net! 0-3, within minutes a shot from past the half way line from Kempston hit the top of the Flitwick Net, 0-4, Flitwick tried to defend well with some excellent play from Annie and with Freya and Amber running back to assist this still kept the pressure on the Eagles, which seemed to much during the 1st half, Grace started her 1st appearance today and dropped into midfield assisting Lorren and Lili, another run from the defence gave the ball to Lara and Holly to run past the Kempston defence and shot at goal - Saved!!! counter attacked from Kempston led to another goal passing the Flitwick Keeper, the half time whistle approached and after a 'penalty' meant Flitwick Eagles went in at 0-7.

Second Half, Flitwick held firm in the second half with Lucy giving everything she had to try and stop the Kempston attack, Amber P assisted by running back to help defend every time, Lara and Holly making runs but never really putting much pressure on the Kempston goalkeeper, Flitwick played much better in the second half which is a credit to the whole team with Amber L making several critical saves and excellent goal kicks but Kempston were a much stronger attacking team and Flitwick were definitley feeling the pressure for the entire game, lots to take to the training ground for next weeks home fixture against Bedford Girls U13.

Final Score Flitwick Eagles GU13 0      Kempston Colts GU13      9

Kick Off 11am VS Bedford Girls U13 (H)

Amber Lee (G) Annie, Beth, Michaela, Lucy, Lorren, Grace, Lili, Holly, Amber P, Lara, Freya,

Flitwick's First Home Game of the season, Bedford Girls arrived to a downpour of rain to Flitwick, immediatley Bedford put pressure on the Eagles and Flitwick defence looked nervous of the Bedford attack who shot the ball through midfield and passed to the forwards with some ease, Flitwick let Bedford take over the game and dictate the first 20 minutes with two simple goals scored against Flitwick, the Eagles kept their heads up and some hard work from Amber P and Holly did at times give Bedford defence something to get back for, but too many times Bedford were first to the ball and Flitwick gave up too easily, Lorren made some promising tackles and skillful passing sending the ball to Holly and who missed the net a couple of times, Lucy in defence was determined to keep marking the attack down the wing keeping the score line at 4-0 at half time, after some saves from Amber L,

Second half.

The second half was a much improved performance from all the flitwick Girls with Amber P running down the wing to tackle and get the ball back, Lorren moved into defence and Michaela played in a forward oposition with some pace gave the bedford team some trouble at the back, Beth and Annie both strong in defence supporting the midfiled play with Lili and Freya, fifteen minutes to go we the score line was still 0-4 Lara substitued Lili and although a weak ankle made some good tackles and produced a good effort at goal being saved on both occasions, Flitwick seemed to have been spurred on and really played some great football with the team managing to push forward and not give Bedford a chance at goal Lucy kept the attack at bay with help from Beth in midfield, then a ball across the wing from Michaela passed to Lara who then slipped the ball to Amber who shot at goal the ball flew over the keeper into the back of the Bedford net getting Flitwick's season off to a start with a goal! with two more shots from lara saved by the keeper the final whistle went.

Final Score Flitwick Eagles 1   Bedford Girls 4

Girl Of The Game was awarded to Annie & Beth.

Flitwick Eagles GU13 VS Knebworth Youth GU13

Team: Amber Lee (G) Annie, Beth, Lucy, Lorren, Grace, Lili, Holly, Amber P, Lara, Freya, Georgia,

The sun shone and blue skys covered the Knebworth pitch ready for the next game for the Flitwick Eagles Girls, Flitwick got off to a good start and got the long ball up front quickly and within a couple of minutes an open goal was presented to Amber - Miss!! not sure how but Flitwick again attacked from a corner and Lorren took a shot past the Knebworth goal, the strength of Flitwick Girls started to wear off after about 8 minutes and suddenly Knebworth decided to play and attacked the Flitwick defence, although some strong tackles and defence from Annie and Beth, Knebworth shot the ball past Amber, within 15 minutes Flitwick were 2-0 down and started to attack the defence were strong through the first half and carried on midfield ran about but kept loosing the ball far too quickly and without wanting to get it back gave Knebworth every opportunity to have plenty of shots at goal, their 3rd came after the ball slid into the net, Flitwick again seemed to panic too quickly and gave the ball away too easily, with 15 minutes of the first half to go Lara made an appearance and with Amber P and Holly the three started to play some good football, however not able to get near the Knebworth goal, a couple of shots from Amber flew over or past the net, even Holly missed another shot at goal, Kneboworth responded by adding to the scoreline and we finished the first half 5 - nil down!!

Second half

Flitwick picked up the pace and with the introduction of Grace and Georgia started running and winning the ball, some great passes from Georgia in midfield and with Freya running down the wing, gave Flitwick a well needed boost, a long ball from Lorren and great touch from Amber who went past a defender took a shot at goal another lob over the keeper and screamed into the net - putting Flitwick back in the game, this gave Flitwick some determination and with Beth and Annie defending gave our midfield a chance to push upfield, and some great passes and communication from Lara and Holly the ball shot past the goalkeeper found Holly who stuck it into the net, then within 3 minutes Flitwick pushed forwards and Lara shot the ball straight past the keeper, Flitwick felt like they were really back in the game at 5-3, then Knebworths determination shone and a great header from their forward put their sixth goal into the net, then a few minutes later the ball sat on the line of Flitwick goal, Flitwick looked at the ball instead of clearing gave Knebworth their Seventh, and two minutes before the end the ball again creeped into the net! Final score 3-8, without taking any performance from Knebworth who played well and have a real gelled team does not fairly reflect the second half when Flitwick tried hard to pull the game back!

Saturday 8th October

Leighton United GU13 Vs Flitwick Eagles GU13

Kick Off 10.30

Amber Lee (GK), Freya, Grace, Michaela, Lucy, Georgia, Amber P, Lorren, Lili, Lara (C)

Flitwick's first outing to Leighton this season, with the ground in excellent condition the weather held off and with a reduced squad Flitwick kicked off, and pushed forward from the outset, some great passing from Flitwick created a chance in the first few minutes Amber shot at goal and hit the side net, Leighton defended well and kept the ball away but Flitwick showed some determintaion and takled and attacked the Leighton goal, for several minutes it was end to end with some clearances from Flitwick creating more chances, then a long ball from Lili, who played well, found Lara a superb touch and passed to Amber who blasted the ball into the back of the Leighton net! 1-0 to Flitwick, with this gave Flitwick a massive boost and again they continued to attack midfiled passed and cleared the ball, then Leighton picked up speed and started passing long balls which Flitwick defence didnt deal with and Leighton played the ball into the Flitwick Net 1-1.  After a frustrating 20 minutes Flitwick players started to watch the game and not tackle which gave Leighton every opportunity to score and they missed several chances, a corner for Leighton the ball played into the box and again Flitwick watched as it glided into the net.2-1

The remaining first half was difficult as we gave too many chances and gave the ball away easily, this led to Leighton going in at half time 5-1 up.

Second Half,

Flitwick went out with all 10 players for the second half, initially we began well with some great passes and both Lara and Amber reading the game well, Lili was strong in central midfiled and georgia had a shot at goal, with the Leighton attack once upon our defence we managed to put the ball into Leighton half and a long ball from Michaela got to Lara who turned and shot at goal and hit the cross bar, we had two corners in succssion which both well taken by Lorren couldnt find the back of the net, Leighton put two more goals away before the final whistle went,

Final score 1-7 scorer Amber Pearson, GOG Lucy..

Flitwick Eagles GU13 Vs Toddington Rovers GU13

Kick Off 11.00 Home

Amber Lee (GK), Annie, Grace, Michaela, Beth, Georgia, Amber P, Lorren, Lili, Holly,  Lara (C)

The sunshine was out in Flitwick this morning, ready for the game. Toddington Rovers had only seven players available due to injuries, so Flitwick agreed to play 7 v 7, this meant Girls playing in different positions and moving about the pitch a lot more than usual, but however Flitwick were really awake from kick off and started to attack Toddington with some great passes from Amber and Holly and Lara together they seemed to have suddenly clicked and really worked well together, our Midfield players who spent time defending and pushing forward were always in the right place at the right time, Lorren and Lili both working well, the ball did sometimes find it way to the Flitwick half which most of the time Annie and Michaela dealt with very well, Annie took the ball along the wing to make the pass to the forwards who seemed to finish it on several occasions, within 10 minutes Lara had a great shot at goal from just past the half way line which screamed past the keeper into the net,

Second half 6-0

Flitwick were up beat at half time even though Toddington had just started to get back at them by some attempts at goal which had found Flitwick un aware at the back, both teams went out with some determination Flitwick again attacked the Toddington net on several occasions, with a superb corner from Lorren which Amber took advantage of and scored, getting her 3rd, then a long ball to midfield found Lorren who took the ball down the wing passed to Amber who passed to Lara, Lara passed to Lorren who took the ball past a defender and shot at goal !!! with lara finding the net for the fourth time in the second half and holly getting her name on the score sheet it was a superb game of football with some excellent passing and awareness by Flitwick, a special mention from Flitwick coaches and parents that the Toddington goal keeper had an outstanding game saving some hard shots and never giving up!

Final Score Flitwick Eagles 9   Toddington Rovers  1

Lara (4) Holly (1) Amber (3) Lorren (1),

Kick Off 10.30

Amber Lee, Annie, Grace, Michaela, Beth, Amber P (C), Lorren, Lili, Holly, Lara, Freya, Lucy

Another warm morning greeted Flitwick to the Stotfold ground, a full size pitch and their first 11 a side match, we played a 2 4 4, with a strong midfiled meant Flitwick could create chances, and from the first whistle they did exactly that Flitwick were straight onto the attack and passed the ball around the pitch not letting Stotfold get near the ball, within a few minutes the ball was being passed from Lorren to Freya and in some great moves found Amber and Lara and Holly pushing forward at every opportunity, each time the ball was defended either Michaela or Bethany made sure it came back to the forwards.   A fantastic ball from Freya down the wing to Amber then passed to Lara who took on a couple of defenders leaving them standing shot the ball to Holly and Holly found the back of the net! Goal!!!!   The ball didnt really get out of the Stotfold area for the first half a couple of passes found a strong defence from Annie and Bethany, with Michaela playing in left midfiled today gave her some space down the wing to get the ball into space, then a pass from Holly across to Lara gave Lara a shooting chance with a volley on her left foot the ball hit the bar, 5 minutes from half time Stotfold started to push and found Eagles resting a bit and Stotfold got through to goal and took a shot at goal, saved by Amber L.

Second half.

Eagles started well, with some superb passing and moving with the ball, making chances to push forward Lorren tackled and turned the ball around Stotfold players and took the ball towards goal passing to Holly a Stotfold player diverted the ball and we got a corner, Lorren took the corner which screamed past the box with no one on the end to take the goal.  Eagles kept pushing and working hard which eventually meant a ball from Michaela found Amber who went past a payer then found Lara who took a shot straight into the net GOAL!!!!!  Eagles kept working and a few minutes Lara had another opportunity she was in on goal and put the ball straight onto the cross bar rebound!!!

Eagles kept working hard, a great attitude and performance with an injury picked up when Amber Lee went in for a tackle meant Lili substituted in goal, and Grace took a shot in the face (by Lara!!), a great win and Eagles played great team football,  next weekend off and then a home game which we are looking forward to.....

Amber Pearons (2) Lara Billington (2) Holly Boothroyd (1)

Lili Dewrance GOG

Kick Off 10.30

Amber Lee, Grace, Michaela, Beth, Amber P, Lorren, Lili, Holly (C), Lara, Freya, Lucy

A long awaited home game after many games away saw Flitwick greet Leighton Park Rangers to a windy cold morning, Flitwick started slowly and looked tired it was a few minutes before we settled down and started to pass the ball to each other, it seemed Flitwick were over confident and let Leighton make the first tackles and runs down the wing, it was 15 minutes before Flitwick took control and a throw in from Lorren found Lili who passed the ball to Holly who shot at the keeper and scored a great goal, Flitwick taking the lead, it was then a midfield battle with Flitwick not being able to find the forwards with Lara and Holly making runs but often being off side! Leighton pushed past the Flitwick forwards and found Lucy playing well along the left wing, battling to win the ball shooting it past the Leighton midfield but Flitwick didn't make the most of the opportunities presented to them, a few scratching around moments in the Leighton goal mouth again didnt prove fruitful for Flitwick and we again gave up a bit and let Leighton close us down, a few minutes later Freya made a great run and passed the ball to Lili who again set up Amber then a strong tackle gave Flitwick a free kick 10 yds from the box, Leightons wall in front of the ball looked tall, but Amber took position and struck the ball into the net from a fantastic free kick 2-0 ! After this Leighton managed to attack again we were left very open at the back and luckliy Amber (L) took possesion of the ball and got a kick in the hand (sub lili into Goal) Lili then sub'd into goal and Grace and Beth took their positions giving Lorren a rest, as soon as play resumed leighton attacked the goal and Lili had to make an important save!

Half time- 2-0

the second half started well for Eagles, and we pushed down the wings using some space and running past the defence unfortunatly no Eagles were in the box to get on the end of some great crosses from Lara and Amber, the ball screamed across the Leighton goal line! Bethany was tackling and working well with Michaela at the back, some excellent defending kept Leighton at bay and the ball passed well from Beth to Freya who struck the ball to Lucy and Lara then shot at Goal but was offside! (again).... eventually a couple of minutes later lara managed to get past 3 players to stirke the ball into the back of the net 3-0. Leighton were not giving up and a long ball down the wing left flitwick standing still the Leighton player took advantage and shot at goal straight into the Flitwick net 3-1, then it was 20 minutes of action with each side taking corners (Lorrens corners were -amazing just being missed by the Flitwick attack) Lili played a lovely ball through to Amber who got her second of the game, 4-1, Leighton responded from a corner and for some reason Flitwick thought the ball was cleared but a shot from a Leighton player gave the next goal 4-2, with 4 minutes to go Lara and Amber woke up and started to work hard and as a team the balls to the front were excellent, Lara taking on th Leighton defence hit the back of the net to finish the game 5-2.

Overall not the greatest performance from Flitwick Girls but some excellent play, had to work hard to get the win, need to pick up the strength for next weeks visit to Langford.

Girl Of the Game - well deserved Lili Dewrance

5-2 win.

Lorren Bird GOG

Flitwick were away this week to Langford Girls, after a lengthy warm up as we missed training this week, our line up started strong and began attacking Langford, Lorren got stuck in and passed a long ball through to Holly, unfortunately the ball found its way back after a few minutes and with some Flitwick confusion at the back the ball rolled into the Flitwick goal, after it just crossed the line with the help of the wind and we stood and watched!! Within a few minutes though Eagles pushed back and some good football from Lili and Amber P the ball was shot forward and a long ball again from Lorren found Lara who equalised taking the score to 1-1, the game then went from end to end with some superb defending from Michaela taking control at the back then after 20 minutes Lara took another shot and the ball went over the cross bar and nearly into the next road, Langford girls passed the ball through from the back and Flitwick lost pace and a shot from Langford near the goal took the score to 1-2, after some very dubious throw in and foul decisions from the Langford ref half time arrived 1-2.

Flitwick Girls knew they could do better and although annoyed that some decisions were not founded stood up and went back out more determined and a couple of minutes Eagles had three more shots at goal then a corner taken by Lorren the ball screamed across the langford goal and we just couldnt get on the end of it! eventually Amber crossed the ball to Lorren who used the width and then shot the ball towards Lara who put the ball nicely into the net, 2-2.  With 15 minutes left a strange decision again gave Langford a free kick fortunately nothing came from it, and the ball was taken back to the Langord end, but then a Langford excellent goal kick went straight past all the Eagles girls, and Langford saw the opportunity and shot the ball at goal, 2-3! Minutes later a Langford throw in resulted in Amber L getting an injury from a kick to the hand, unfortunately the ref wasn't looking at that point and didnt stop the game, until a coach went to her assistance, Amber off and Lili went into goal. The next 20 minutes seemed to take forever and a suberb equaliser came to Eagles as the ball played from the back to Amber P found Lorren who passed back and Amber struck the ball into the back of the Langford net! 3-3 It was then all to play for and the next 10 minutes the ball could have gone into either net with some saves from Lili keeping us in the game and some shots off target from Flitwick.

Overall an excellent performance and the girls to learn that good football and determination will be the only way to grow and work together whatever decisions go against you.

3-3 Girl of the game Lorren ! :-)
